About Hugewick
What are Hugewick Candles?
Hugewick makes playful candles for couples: low-temperature massage candles, wax play drip candles and Flameless Dripwaxxx pouches. They're made to bring warmth, touch and a little mischief to your time together.
Who makes Hugewick Candles?
Hugewick was created by two global massage and skincare educators with 20 years in the spa industry. We built the candles we wanted to use with clients and partners: a comfortable melt temperature, skin-friendly ingredients and scents that feel like a treat.
What are the candles made of?
Our candles are made with soy wax and skin-softening sunflower oil with vitamins A & E. Our scented candles use non-comedogenic aromas, and UnSCENTsored is completely fragrance-free.
What scents do you offer?
Honey Do Me (Honey Do Melon and cucumber), Lilac Me Softly (French lilac and honeysuckle), Not So Vanilla (vanilla bean, buttercream and a hint of bourbon), Mai Tai You Up (tropical fruit and rum), XXX & Oh's (strawberries and cream) and UnSCENTsored (fragrance-free).
Massage candles
What is a massage candle?
A massage candle is a candle whose melted wax becomes a warm massage oil. Light it, let a pool of melted wax form, blow it out, then pour the oil into your hands or drizzle it onto skin and massage it in.
How do I use a Hugewick massage candle?
Light the candle and let it burn for about 15 to 20 minutes, until a melted pool forms. Blow it out, then test a few drops on your inner wrist. When it feels comfortably warm, pour a little into your palm or onto skin and massage. Never pour from a lit candle.
Is the wax hot?
Our massage candles are made with soy wax, which melts at a lower temperature than standard paraffin candles, so the oil feels warm rather than hot. Everyone's comfort level is different, so always test on your inner wrist first and wait a moment if it feels too warm.
Can I use it as a regular candle?
Yes. Each 2oz tin gives off a soft glow and a light aroma while it burns. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it away from fabric, pets and children.
Do you have a fragrance-free option?
Yes. UnSCENTsored is completely naked of aroma, made for sensitive skin or anyone who prefers no fragrance.
Wax play
What is wax play?
Wax play is a form of sensory play where warm wax is dripped or poured onto the skin. The mix of warmth, anticipation and touch makes it a popular way for couples to try something new.
Is wax play safe?
Wax play can be enjoyed safely with the right wax and a few precautions. Only use candles made for skin, like low-temperature soy candles. Regular household candles, paraffin and beeswax burn much hotter. Test every drip on your inner wrist, avoid the face, eyes, hair and genitals, never drip on broken or irritated skin, and stop if anything feels too hot.
I'm new to wax play. Where should I start?
Start slowly. Drip from higher up, since the wax cools as it falls, and gradually move closer as you learn what you enjoy. Begin on less sensitive areas like the back, shoulders or thighs, and agree on a word that means stop. Our Flameless Dripwaxxx pouches are an easy, flame-free way to begin.
What's the difference between the massage candle, the drip candle and the flameless pouch?
The massage candle melts into a creamy massage oil in a 2oz tin, made for massage with light wax play. The drip candle is a taller pillar candle made for dripping wax onto skin. The Flameless Dripwaxxx pouch is warmed in the microwave instead of lit, then poured, dripped or painted on. It's the no-flame option for wax play.
How do I use the Flameless Dripwaxxx pouch?
Follow the heating directions printed on the pouch, warming it in short bursts and checking the temperature between each one. Test a few drops on your inner wrist before using it on your partner. The wax hardens on contact and peels away when you're done.
Cleanup and care
How do I remove wax from skin?
Let the wax cool and harden, then gently peel or brush it away. Any remaining oil can be massaged in or washed off with warm water and mild soap.
How do I get wax out of sheets or fabric?
Let the wax harden completely, then scrape off as much as you can. Lay a paper towel over the spot and press with a warm iron to lift the rest, then wash as usual. To make cleanup easier, lay down an old towel before you play.
How should I store my candles?
Keep candles at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Replace the lid on massage candle tins after they cool.
